PLANNED RELAXATION

Doesn’t it feel like we are on a hamster's wheel going round and round, doing chores, going to work and taking care of others; but we never or rarely have the time to really rest?

Well it’s high time that we change that, because we all deserve to be pampered, relaxed and well rested so we can start every new day with energy, a pep in our steps, a smile on our faces or plain old happiness at seeing a new dawn. We can all achieve the holy grail of planned relaxation if we put some planning into it so say it with me: WE NEED REST, WE NEED REST!

Steps to achieve planned relaxation:

● Carve out a time during your day where you know that you will be undisturbed (5 minutes or more).

● Find the location and set the mood.

● Set a timer.

● Enjoy to the fullest.

● If possible, do this more than once a day or for a longer period of time.

Benefits to resting:

● Reducing anxiety and stress.

● Attaining peace to some extent.

● Managing blood pressure and heart rate.

● Relaxing the nervous system.

● Increasing creativity and productivity.

Types of relaxation (just to name a few):

● Meditation.

● Listening to music or water sounds.

● Spa (whether at an actual location or the do-it-yourself type).

● Pet therapy.

● Aromatherapy.

● Prayer.

● Exercise.

● Nature walk.

● Sightseeing.

● Reading.

● Journaling.

● Coloring or other forms of art therapy.

● Napping.
